If you've tried any of the non-slip bath mats marketed for bath time with baby, you know what a joke they are with their abundance of suction-less suction cups. But when your toddler won't sit down in the tub, finding a bath mat that doesn't act as a floating carpet becomes a top priority. It was almost impossible to find a bath mat with positive reviews, and even harder to find one made of non-toxic materials. In a last-ditch effort I took my search to Etsy, where I stumbled upon our bath time savior: the Gator Grip.
The Gator Grip is a bath mat made of Marine-grade foam rubber backed with a non-permanent adhesive (it won't damage your tub when you're ready to peel it off). Not only does this mat actually stick to the tub and create a legitimate non-slip surface, it's also made of a material that is inherently mold and mildew resistant. Even better, the seal created by the adhesive prevents mold and mildew from growing underneath.
Safety is obviously the main objective here, but as an added bonus for M the mat is soft and cushy and she loves feeling the scaly texture with her fingers during bath time. As an added bonus for me, the mat is not in the shape of an animal or embellished with every color of the rainbow. It actually looks nice in our bathroom, even under a treasure trove of colorful bath toys.
The Gator Grip retails for $39.99 and comes in grey, green, and beige. Additional sizes and accessories are available in the Gator Grip Etsy shop.
