teepee hideaways
When I was a kid, play forts consisted of pillows and blankets and a lot of imagination. I'm looking forward to introducing this childhood tradition to M as she gets older, but how nice would it be for a child to also have a cozy hideaway in the house that doesn’t have to be dismantled before visitors arrive? For years I have been waiting for the day when I finally had a reason to get a play teepee for the house, and now that we have a child I can’t think of a better first birthday present. Not only are these aesthetically pleasing styles perfect to tuck into the corner of any room in the house, they are perfect for quickly tucking toys away and out of sight before those visitors arrive.
1. House in Habit, $130-$150
2. Wolfum, $325
3 & 4. Tnees Tpees, $160
5. RH Baby and Child, $269
6. B.E. Little You and Me, $115
7. Cuckoo Clocks, $145
And if you’re thinking “325 dollars for fabric and wood poles!?! I can make that!”, you’re probably right, so if you have the time check out this compilation of 35 teepee DIY’s.
color crush :: neon yellow
the neon trend has been going strong for several seasons in the fashion world, but lately it seems to be infiltrating the realm of home décor as well. i am loving the bright accent mixed with mint green, white, or navy, but i think my favorite pairing is with neutrals – natural linens, beiges and greys. really, it appears to work with everything. maybe neon yellow is the new neutral??

baby-friendly living room design {part 1}
seeing as how M is on the verge of becoming mobile, it's probably a good time to start baby proofing. aside from mounting the flat-screen and securing bookcases to walls, i thought i'd throw in a little living room makeover while i was as it (much to my husband's dismay). inspired by the "baby-proofing your stylish living room" post over on oh joy!, here are some favorite finds… fun pops of color and visually stimulating pieces and patterns, organic cotton pillows that are safe to chew on and wooden blocks that double as objets d'art.
